Commutergear review of the Axiom Typhoon Rear Pannier Set:

Axiom Typhoon Rear Pannier Set

These are the panniers I personally use every day when riding to work. (and yes, I ride in the rain) I love these panniers. They are constructed from a heavy seam sealed fabric and attach to my rack easily. They attach to your rack by 2 hooks and heavy bungee type cord system. They don’t fall off due to a locking mechanism that when turned, cinches the hooks to your rack. Under the flap, you will find a mesh zippered compartment, then a roll-top enclosure for the main compartment. There are no internal dividers so you may place large o small items inside. I often place my laptop inside a cushioned sleeve and then place in one bag along with some other odds and ends. I use the other pannier for my work shoes, socks and slacks. I have ridden in some bad rain down pours and have never had any water seepage. These bags are well constructed and trust them in any environment. When looking at cycling gear, I always look for good, durable, waterproof construction. These panniers have met my expectations for about a year now. I know they work.

Part of Axiom’s StormFront series, the Typhoon is a waterproof bag that features welded seams and a roll down closure to keep inclement weather out.

  • Fully waterproof welded tarpaulin and 600D polyester
  • Posi-Lock attachment system secures luggage to rack even on rough roads; extra hardware included
  • Roll-down closure for foolproof weather protection
  • Top flap has waterproof pocket on outside, mesh tool pocket on inside
  • Reflective logos and tabs for improved visibility
  • Sold in pairs
  • The high level fabric used in all Axiom bags has exceptionally low off-gassing characteristics (open up a bag and you notice it doesn’t smell like plastic or chemicals!) that exceed even European standards
